'Reality check' needed over future of Meat Plant

There needs to be a 'serious reality check' regarding the future of the Meat Plant.

That's the message from the Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister who's admitted the facility still isn't sustainable.

Richard Ronan says the 'volatility of the industry' isn't a problem exclusively being experienced here - he believes the legislation governing the plant needs reviewing.

Michael MHK Alf Cannan raised concerns with him in Tynwald this week that despite a four year Treasury subvention the plant still isn't on the right track to becoming a sustainable business model:
