Guilty plea from woman who didn't declare inheritance

Tue, 05 Jul 2016

A Douglas woman has been convicted of fraud after an anonymous source shopped her to the Treasury.

44-year-old Nicola Quirk failed to declare that she'd received an inheritance payment of £46,000 whilst she was claiming benefits.

It led to an overpayment of £4165 - at Douglas Courthouse yesterday she admitted failing to inform the Treasury of her change in circumstances between July 2014 and February this year.

Social enquiry reports have been requested before Quirk is sentenced on August 9th - she's been bailed in the meantime.
