Sewage company awaits sentencing as JCK is cleared of causing man's death

Sat, 16 Jul 2016

An Island sewage company is due to be sentenced next week after causing the death of a construction worker in 2013.

Tuke and Bell Limited will appear before Deemster Birkett at Douglas Courthouse on July 27th.

The company has previously admitted failing to discharge duty in relation to health and safety in Kirk Michael on May 1st over three years ago.

On that day 55-year-old Gareth Sowden died from crush injuries after being trapped under a shipping container.

JCK Limited - which had been charged with the same offence - was cleared of causing his death last month after a jury found them not guilty.
