Pay details for public sector workers could be made public

Consideration is being given to increasing the amount of information published on how much civil servants get paid. 
 
That's according to the Policy and Reform Minister who says it's becoming increasingly common in the UK for authorities to publish the salary information for officials working in the public sector. 
 
John Shimmin told Members at the last Tynwald sitting of the current government administration that it's being looked at - outgoing Onchan MHK Peter Karran welcomed the news but said the move wasn't 'revolutionary' and transparency should also be extended to people who are contracted to work for government.
 
Mr Shimmin said 'checks and balances' would be needed to protect individuals:
