Abortion helpline set up to help 'restricted' women

Sat, 03 Sep 2016

A new helpline has been launched for women on the Isle of Man who are ordering abortion pills online.

The British Pregnancy Advisory Service says it will provide reassurance and advice to people who've taken the medication in places where abortion is 'severely restricted'.

It's currently a criminal offence to order the pills - BPAS says due to this women may be put off seeking help if they experience any problems as they go through the process.

The Campaign for Abortion Law Modernisation group on the Island has welcomed the move saying its further proof we need to modernise our 'outdated and unnecessarily restrictive' laws.
