Douglas lifeboat guided a fishing boat to safety after the vessel suffered a fire on board.

The 21m fishing boat was 13 miles south of the Island's capital when a fire in the galley was reported to the coastguard.

The Steam Packet's Manannan, which was on its way to Douglas from Liverpool, was put on standby to assist with a helicopter rescue, but the seven-man crew on the fishing vessel were able to bring the fire under control.

Douglas lifeboat located the boat and escorted it back to Douglas at 9pm, just over half an hour after being called out.
