MSPCA submits plans for dog chill room

Sat, 05 Nov 2016

The Manx Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is seeking planning permission to build a new facility at its headquarters.

The charity wants to build an introduction and chill room at the dogs unit, giving dogs looking for new homes a place to meet potential new owners and reduce stress.

Chill rooms are designed to replicate the home environment, giving dogs a break from their kennels.

The MSPCA was given a £45,000 grant to build such a facility by Pets at Home's Support Adoption for Pets campaign last year.

It's hoped such a facility would help cut the number of dogs who return to the shelter after being rehomed, with around a quarter currently failing to adjust to life with their new owners.
