Ramsey Harbour Death Not Suspicious - Police

Police have issued further details and a plea for information following the death of man in Ramsey Harbour.

The man has been named as 80 year old Derek Beavers.

Police issued the following Notice:

At around 11.20am, on Thursday 10th November 2016, Police attended the vicinity of Old River Road, Ramsey, following the report of a male in the water.
The body of an elderly man, believed to be 80 year old  Mr. Derek BEAVERS was found on the harbour beach opposite the swimming pool. His body was recovered with the assistance of the Coastguard.
It is believed that Mr.BEAVERS went out walking in the Ramsey area at around 9.30am this morning.  Mr.BEAVERS is described as being of slim build,  grey hair and wears glasses. He was wearing a long, black leather coat, dark bottoms and golf shoes.
Police are appealing to anybody who has seen Mr.BEAVERS or a male fitting his description today in the Ramsey area to contact police. Acting on behalf of the Coroner of Inquest police are looking to
piece together his movements and establish how he came to be in the water.

The investigation into the death is currently unexplained.
Minor disruption was caused to traffic and members of the public in the area whilst the body was recovered. The public are thanked for their patience.
