Bike fans at Motorcycle Live in Birmingham hear about driving and riding on the Island's roads.
Bike fans at Motorcycle Live in Birmingham hear about driving and riding on the Island's roads.

The Island's Roads Policing Unit hopes speaking to bike fans at this year's Motorcycle Live will make visiting riders think more when they come to the Island during TT.

Crashes increase on Manx roads during TT fortnight as the number of vehicles travelling around the Island rises, along with drivers and bikers not familiar with the roads and speed limits.

Posting on the RPU's Facebook page, Sergeant Steve Lapsley says a lack of understanding over speed laws is one of the main sources of confusion for visiting motorists.

Police hope having a stall at the Birmingham event at the weekend, which coinciding with the exhibition's TT day, will help make the Island's roads safer during their busiest time of the year.
