Commissioner blasts malicious bench damage

Wed, 07 Dec 2016

The Chairman of Ramsey Town Commissioners says damage at a nature reserve in the town is malicious and wholly unnecessary.

A number of picnic benches at Poyll Dooey have been targeted by vandals earlier this week.

Andy Cowie says clearing up the damage will take the local authority's workers away from other tasks, while the cost of repairing and replacing the benches could prevent future projects going ahead.

The Chairman also urges the culprits to think of the impact of their actions, stating people could be put in danger elsewhere in the town if the board's workers are kept busy clearing up damage.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Ramsey Police Station.
