Police urge motorists to check for traffic news

Thu, 22 Dec 2016

Police are urging motorists to check social media and the local news to look for road closures before setting off.

It comes after a number of drivers voiced their frustrations at lengthy delays due to a crash in Greeba yesterday.

The main Peel to Douglas Road was closed for around two hours, resulting in traffic being diverted up Archallagan Road because of the road works in Foxdale.

Officers say their main priority at a crash is to save lives, provide first aid and protect the scene with a limited number of officers.

The Constabulary adds that it doesn't have time to speak to every driver during a diversion, and that it's the motorist's responsibility to know alternative routes home.

Updates are often issued on the Constabulary Media Page on Facebook and through the @IOMPolice Twitter account, as well as on Energy FM traffic updates throughout the day.
