The Infrastructure Minister says his Department is considering whether the Port Erin Marine Biological Station should be demolished following a fire.

The building, which the Department has been looking to sell, sustained significant damage to its roof and first floor during the blaze on New Year's Eve.

Following questions about the future of the site from Speaker of the House of Keys and Rushen MHK Juan Watterson, Ray Harmer confirmed demolishing the entire site is actively being considered.

The Minister also confirmed that his Department is still looking to offload the entire site.
