Less than 7% of the Island's electricity comes from renewable sources.
Manx Utilities chairman Alex Allinson revealed the figure in the House of Keys this morning.
The statistics, which are based on the electricity used during 2016, include power generated by the Energy From Waste Plant.
A previous Government review set a target of having 15% of the Island's electric coming from renewable sources.
Dr Allinson admitted that the cost of schemes to increase the use of renewable energy has prevented more being brought in on the Island.
