Tynwald will be asked to approve a series of new coin designs later this month.

The Treasury will present the Currency Order at this month's sitting, including new images for all denominations from 5p for £5.

All coins will have the image of the Queen on one side and a Manx-themed design on the reverse.

The proposed designs include a Manx cat, a viking longboat and the Tower of Refuge.

The Treasury also wants to produce an additional 50p coin to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the House of Keys Election Act.

Earlier this week the Treasury confirmed it doesn't plan to introduce a 12-sided pound coin.
