An American man claiming to be a descendant of a former King of the Isle of Man has announced his intention to claim the crown of Wales.

Allan Evans, who says he is a 10th-generation American, believes one of his ancestors founded the Kingdom of Wales and married a Princess who was a descendant of a former King of the Isle of Man.

The Colorado native took out an advert in The Times this week announcing his intention to ascend the throne of Wales in the next 30 days.

Evans isn't the first American to claim to be descended from Manx royalty, as David Drew Howe from Maryland declared himself the King of Man in 2007.
