New taxi company to take over patient transfers this month

Fri, 17 Mar 2017

ComCab Liverpool will replace Bridgewater Cars as the patient taxi transfer provider for the Island by the end of the month.

The Department of Health and Social Care confirmed the new provider will take Manx patients to medical appointments in Liverpool from March 27th.

ComCab Liverpool was the successful bidder in a recent tender process, although nearly 2,000 people have signed a petition calling for Bridgewater to continue the service.

The DHSC insists those who travel regularly won't see any changes, and that patients will receive a first class service.

ComCab Liverpool has previously worked with the North West Ambulance Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service providing patient transfers, and currently provides around 900 transfer journeys each week.
