Parents urged not to send kids back to school too soon after norovirus

Parents of children at a school affected by a norovirus outbreak are being urged not to send their kids back to school until they've fully recovered.

Ballacottier Primary School has been forced to close today for the premises to undergo a deep clean.

Pupils and staff have been struck by the vomiting bug this week, and were advised to shut to prevent the virus spreading further.

Although the school is expected to be open as normal on Monday, parents are being asked not to send their children in if they have a headache, stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhoea are generally feel unwell.

Pupils should be clear of symptoms for 48 hours before returning to school, as the virus can still be passed on for two days after symptoms cease.
