Education chiefs want to increase student grants

Fri, 14 Apr 2017

The Department of Education and Children wants to increase maintenance grants for students from the Island in higher education.

The means-tested grants assist students from the Island with travel and accommodation.

Those studying at University College Isle of Man would receive £180 more per year, while those studying off Island could be over £500 better off each year.

Around a quarter of Manx students in higher education are eligible for the grants

The DEC has set aside £10.3m for student awards and grants this year.
