Two thirds of Government vehicles bought locally

Wed, 10 May 2017

Almost two thirds of the vehicles purchased by the Isle of Man Government last year were bought from local dealers.

92 of the 141 vehicles purchased by the Government during the 2016-17 financial year were supplied locally, while 41 came directly from the manufacturer.

The total number of vehicles bought was up compared with the previous 12 months, with just 25 vehicles purchased during the 2015-16 period.

The Department of Infrastructure admits it's not able to purchase specialist vehicles like ambulances, buses and construction plant from local dealers.
