Campaign group believes more women using abortion pills

Fri, 16 Jun 2017

A campaign group calling for abortion laws on the Isle of Man to be updated believes more women are buying illegal abortion tablets online.

UK statistics show 88 women travelled from the Isle of Man to the UK for terminations last year - a drop of 17 compared with the previous 12 months.

Despite this, the Campaign for Abortion Law Modernisation Isle of Man claims more women have been turning to the internet to buy the tablets, which are illegal in the Island.

Most women seeking an abortion have to travel off Island and fund the procedure themselves.
