The Minister responsible for sport on the Island has congratulated the Manx Commonwealth Youth Games team after they secured eight medals in the Bahamas.

Eight athletes represented the Isle of Man, including Jimmy Bostock who claimed the first every gold for the Island at the Commonwealth Youth Games with victory in the boy's cycling road race.

Education and Children Minister Graham Cregeen says those who took part in the Games were superb ambassadors for the Island, praising their hard work and commitment.

Manx athletes claimed a total of three cycling medals, four in swimming and one is athletics.
