DoI seeks permission to extend use of Summerland site

Thu, 03 Aug 2017

The Department of Infrastructure wants to continue using the Summerland site for parking and storage for the next five years.

A planning application has been submitted to allow the Department to use the land due to a lack of space at the nearby Derby Castle Depot.

The Public Transport Division has been using the area since 2012, and the Government wants to continue to do so while there are no imminent plans to develop the Summerland site.

The original planning application, which was approved five years ago, granted the Department permission to use the area for secure parking, staff facilities and storage.

Last year the DoI revealed it was looking to use the Summerland site to house a temporary horse tram facility.
