S100 submits plans for new race control building

Tue, 22 Aug 2017

The Southern 100 wants to replace its race control building in Castletown.

The Billown races have applied for planning permission to build a semi-permanent base to replace the double tier portacabin that currently occupies the site.

The land the structure would be on is owned by the Department of Infrastructure, but the application insists the structure would be removable should the Southern 100 cease to exist.

The building would be used to house the clerk of the course, police inspector, time keepers and commentary during race days, with a total of 18 people based at the site for operational reasons during the races.
