Running Lieutenant Governor's home costs almost £250,000

Thu, 31 Aug 2017

The cost of running the Lieutenant Governor's home was almost quarter of a million pounds last year.

The Cabinet Office has revealed the staff cost and day to day management of Government House cost the Island £234,380.50 during the 2016-17 financial year.

The spending was on top of Sir Richard Gozney's salary of over £101,000, while almost £13,000 was spent on official catering at the premises.

The Government says it is its constitutional obligation to provide the Lieutenant Governor with the necessary support as the representative of the Queen on the Island.
