The remnants of Hurricane Ophelia are causing disruption on the Isle of Man this afternoon.

As well as ferry and flight cancellations, King William's College and the Buchan School will close early, while Manx National Heritage sites are shutting at 3pm, except for the Manx Museum and House of Manannan.

The Department of Education and Children says its schools are open, but it is monitoring the weather and after-school classes, youth clubs and other evening activities on school grounds have been cancelled.

Police are urging the public to ensure loose items such as garden furniture and trampolines are secured, and make sure they're at a safe distance while viewing large waves.

The worst of the conditions are expected to be between 3pm and midnight.
