DHSC promotes Self Care Week

Mon, 13 Nov 2017

Those living with long-term health conditions are being encouraged to develop and apply new skills as part of Self Care Week.

The Department of Health and Social care wants those living with long-term conditions to understand how to live with a condition and the importance of staying in good general health.

As part of Self Care Week, which starts today, the DHSC is urging those with long-term illnesses to sign up to its Live Well-Stay Well programme, which encourages patients to learn to manage their conditions.

The programme includes a six-week course with sessions held across the Island.

The courses have already been used by around 100 people suffering from a range of conditions like asthma, diabetes, epilepsy and high blood pressure.

More details about the course can be found on the Government's website.
