DoI ready for colder weather

Wed, 29 Nov 2017

The Department of Infrastructure insists it's ready for wintry conditions.

The Isle of Man Met Office is warning of freezing temperatures over the coming days, resulting in a risk of ice on high ground.

The DoI says it will deploy bulk gritters on primary routes to ensure safe driving conditions, with priority being given to roads that carry the heaviest traffic.

Routes around the hospital, fire stations, schools and key bus routes will also be treated.

The public is also being encourage to take responsibility for footpaths outside their own properties, with grit available for free at the Island's civic amenity sites and salt bins in residential areas.
