Airport security area could get bigger

Wed, 06 Dec 2017

The security area at Ronaldsway Airport could be made bigger in a bid to reduce waiting times.

Passengers have raised concerns about the length of time it takes to get through the search area at the Isle of Man Airport in recent months.

Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer told this week's sitting of the House of Keys that his Department is considering designs to change to layout of the facilities.

Its preferred solution would increase the size of the space, allowing more room before and after the security process for preparation and repacking.

The DoI is also looking to introduce automatic tray return and extra rollers, as well as opening a second line at peak times only.

A business case will be presented to the Treasury this week as the Department tries to identify funds to make the changes.
