Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Geoffrey Boot announced the plans in Tynwald.

The Government will start offering free advice on reducing energy consumption.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is launching an Energy Efficiency Scheme in a bid to help residents reduce their fuel bills and cut the use of fossil fuels.

Minister Geoffrey Boot unveiled the plans in Tynwald, including the introduction of a telephone hotline and website with tips it's claimed can help save a typical household over £250 per year.

A roadshow promoting the energy efficiency message will take place in the New Year.

The Government wants to cut emissions per person by 80% by 2050.
