Fire service highlights Christmas electric fire risk

Thu, 21 Dec 2017

The Island's fire brigade is warning Manx residents against overloading plug sockets over the festive period.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service has issued advice on how to avoid an electrical fire at home over Christmas.

Fire safety officers warn careless use of sockets poses a real risk of sparking an electrical fire.

The service also suggests not leaving hot hair straighteners on pillows, not placing portable heaters near curtains and not leaving laptops on bedding.

Officers are encouraging locals to risk-assess their homes and share advice with friends and family.
