Government seeks views on public sector housing allocation

Fri, 22 Dec 2017

The Manx Government is seeking feedback on the way public sector housing is allocated.

The Department of Infrastructure has launched a public consultation on plans to modernise the access and eligibility for general needs housing.

The criteria haven't been updated since they were introduced in 2002, and the Department wants to ensure resources are targeted at those most in need.

The DoI plans to make changes to the points-based system used to priorities those awaiting housing, including changes to residency requirements, capping points for time spent on the waiting list and prioritising those with younger children.

The full proposals and a questionnaire for those wishing to submit feedback can be found on the consultation section of the Government's website.
