Tue, 09 Jan 2018

Those who needed treatment at the Island's Accident and Emergency department on Boxing Day had to wait over four hours.

The Department of Health and Social Care revealed patients waited on average 252 minutes to be seen in A&E on December 26th.

In response to a Freedom of Information request, the Department also revealed the average waiting time over the festive period was 205 minutes, making the wait on Boxing Day 23% longer than average.

89 people attended A&E at Noble's on December 26th, 39 more than on Christmas Day and 13 more than the average over Christmas and New Year.

According to figures published in October last year, 95% of patients admitted to A&E were admitted, transferred or discharged within four hours in the second quarter of the 2017-18 period.
