A local charity that works to keep the Island's coastline clean has welcomed news that the Manx Government is looking at ways to reduce its consumption of single use plastics.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle announced in this week's sitting of the House of Keys that a Council of Ministers committee is working on a plan to cut the use of such plastics.

Beach Buddies Isle of Man described the news as very encouraging, adding MHKs and MLCs support the idea.

Mr Quayle praised the work of Beach Buddies' volunteers during his announcement yesterday, stating the public are showing the way and the Government should support that.
