Police urge public to trust instincts to avoid scams

Fri, 16 Feb 2018

Police are urging Manx residents to trust their gut instinct after a woman received a scam text claiming to be from the Isle of Man Bank.

The woman contacted the police after receiving a message claiming her debit card had been used to make purchases worth £2,500 on Amazon.

The recipient of the message called the number given and said she was suspicious of the message, but when the scammers called her back her phone showed the Isle of Man Bank number.

Police are urging anyone who is suspicious of such a message to trust their instincts and not give out their details over the phone.
