The Health and Social Care Minister hopes increased funds for his Department won't impact other areas of Government.

The DHSC was given an additional £5.5m in yesterday's budget, which included a total of £13.8m extra to go on public services over the next 12 months.

David Ashford warns other Departments could miss out if the cost of running the Island's health service continues to rise

Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan revealed in the budget speech that the DHSC will look to make savings of £7m during the 2018-19 financial year, particularly by reducing the reliance on locum doctors and nurses.

The Department has had to ask for extra funds in the last three years in order to meet its costs.
