Airport automatic tray returns to cost £160,000

Thu, 01 Mar 2018

Installing automatic tray returns at the Isle of Man Airport will cost £160,000.

The Department of Infrastructure is spending £300,000 to improve the security area at Ronaldsway in a bid to reduce queuing time.

The Airport will operate a second scanner at peak times once the improvements have been made, so two tray returns costing £80,000 each will be installed.

A further £40,000 will be spend on boarding card card readers, £30,000 on equipment to monitor the queue and £70,000 for building works.

The figures were revealed in response to a Freedom of Information request.

Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer previously estimated running the second scanner would cost around £150,000 in staffing.
