Education Minister to face questions about St Thomas's relocation

Plans to relocate one of Douglas's primary schools to another site will be discussed in the House of Keys next week.

Garff MHK Daphne Caine, who is also the Manx Government's Children's Champion, wants to know what the estimated cost of moving St Thomas's School to Scoill Vallajeelt in Saddlestone will be.

Mrs Caine is also seeking details about the number of pupils on the register at each school, and how many are expected to attend each school in September.

The Department of Education, Sport and Culture wants both schools to remain separate but share the same building as St Thomas's is oversubscribed, while Scoill Vallajeelt has extra space.

The Department recently revealed over 400 people has signed letters of objection to the proposed moved.
