Public views sought on minimum wage

Mon, 26 Mar 2018

The Government wants feedback from the public on the Island's minimum wage.

The Minimum Wage Committee, which makes recommendations to the Treasury and Enterprise Ministers, are running a public consultation on the single hourly rate.

Areas the committee will consider include inflation, the effects on employment, the costs and competitiveness of business and the impact on the tax and benefit system.

Age-related wages are also being looked at by the committee.

Minimum wage for those aged 25 and over is currently £7.50, with separate rates for younger workers.

Full details of the consultation can be found on the Government's website. Responses to the consultation must be received by May 2nd.
