Lifeboat crews, the coastguard and paramedics were called out to rescue an unconscious man from a beach in Douglas.

The man was found on Port Skillion Beach shortly after 9am yesterday, with the beach only accessible via flights of steep steps.

As a result of the location, the rescue team decided to evacuate the male offshore in the lifeboat on a backboard and stretcher.

The lifeboat brought the man to the liner berth at Douglas harbour, where an ambulance was waiting to take him to hospital.
