The Western Neighbourhood Policing Team is appealing for witnesses to the incident.

A farmer is appealing for dog owners to keep their animals on leads after a lamb had to be put to sleep following a dog attack.

Aalish Creer urged local residents to share pictures of the lamb's severed leg and puncture wounds to urge owners not to let their dogs off leads near livestock.

The lamb was just a few hours old, and a vet recommended putting the lamb to sleep.

Ms Creer insists there's no excuse for anyone to take their dog off the lead at this time of year, especially as signs reminding of lambing season are on display in the area.

As well as the loss of a lamb, the farm has been left with a stressed flock which includes heavily pregnant ewes.

The Police have been informed of the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Officers from the Western Neighbourhood Policing Team say the attack happened in the Archallagan area near Greenway Road yesterday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Peel Police Station on 842208.
