Island-based law firm reaches Paradise Papers settlement

Tue, 08 May 2018

A law firm with a base in the Isle of Man has reached a settlement with the BBC and The Guardian over the Paradise Papers.

The documents, which Appleby claimed were stolen by hackers, were published last year, calling into question the ethics of offshore tax schemes.

The details of the settlement have been kept confidential.

Appleby, which has an office in Douglas, opened the legal action in a bid to find out which of its confidential files had been taken.

The papers included details of the Island's VAT system for business jets.
