Public Health warns of chickenpox outbreak

Thu, 10 May 2018

The Island's Public Health officials are urging parents to keep their children off school if they have chickenpox.

The virus, which is currently circulating in the Isle of Man, mainly affects children, but can be caught by adults as well.

Public Health says those who have spots from chickenpox should stay away from school, nursery or work until all the spots have crusted over.

The virus normally clears up by itself within a week.

The organisation is encouraging those who aren't sure if they have the illness to contact their GP for further advice.
