Lifeboat crew tow stricken cruiser to safety

Sat, 02 Jun 2018

Douglas lifeboat was called out after a cruiser travelling to the Island broke down a mile short of its destination.

The 25ft vessel left Whitehaven on Thursday, and was approaching Douglas shortly before midnight later that day when the engine failed.

The tidal conditions meant the boat started to drift north, forcing them to radio for help from the RNLI.

The lifeboat quickly located the stricken vessel and deployed a dinghy to set up a tow, allowing the crew to bring the vessel to the visitors pontoon on Battery Pier.
