A paralysed woman who raises money for research into spinal injuries has been denied the opportunity to ride a lap of the TT course.

Claire Lomas MBE has been training to ride a lap at the Manx Grand Prix this year, but organisers have now told her she won't be able to take to the course.

The 38-year-old, who has been paralysed since 2007 as a result of a horse riding accident, had already raised £3000 through the challenge, as well as visiting the Island twice as part of her preparations.

Ms Lomas shared the message from organisers on Twitter, revealing she was told her lap can no longer go ahead due to "operational circumstances" as non-racing activities are always difficult to fit in.
