Tynwald to consider increase to minimum wage

Mon, 09 Jul 2018

The minimum wage on the Isle of Man could increase later this year.

Tynwald will be asked to approve changes to the Minimum Wage at this month's sitting, which would increase the rate to £7.85 per hour.

The change would apply to all workers over the age of 18, meaning those over 25 receive a raise of 35p per hour, while the minimum wage for 18 to 20 year olds would go up by £1.

The rate for those over compulsory school age but under 18 would be £5.85, while development workers would receive £6.95.

If given the go-ahead, the new minimum wage rates would come in from October 1st.
