Plans for £2m Laxey flood protection scheme to go on display

Tue, 17 Jul 2018

Plans to increase flood protection in Laxey will go on display in the village later this week.

A protection scheme which will include reinforcing the sea wall is due to get underway in October subject to planning approval, costing up to £2m.

The Department of Infrastructure will make the plans available for members of the public to see at Laxey Commissioners Office between 2pm and 6pm on Thursday.

Construction of the new retaining wall is expected to take six months and will be funded by the Government's Climate Change Adaption Scheme.

The scheme is in response to the flooding experienced in Laxey in 2014.
