Approved techniques used to restrain girl

Thu, 19 Jul 2018

The Island's police insist approved techniques were used to restrain a juvenile after a video of the incident was posted on social media.

The eight-second clip showed a girl being restrained by officers from the Isle of Man Constabulary following an incident earlier this month.

A statement from the police insists the edited footage doesn't capture the full context of the incident.

It also confirmed all officers undergo mandatory training on the use of control and restraint, and that approved techniques were used by the officer in the video.

The Constabulary says it will not comment further as the case involved a juvenile.
