Commissioners use Social Media to engage with Rate Payers

A commissioner in Ramsey has started creating his own video content for social media, in an attempt to engage ratepayers with the issues facing the town.

Luke Parker has released the first ‘Focal Point’ video feature this week, where he meets Ian Clague from BMX Isle of Man to discuss the issue of motor vehicles using the club’s track.

Commissioner Parker hopes the videos, published on his Facebook page, will highlight the ‘news, topics and information’ of interest to Ramsey ratepayers.

He’s also started holding live question and answer sessions with fellow commissioner Juan McGuinness via social media, as well as discussing the agenda for upcoming board meetings.

Mr Parker explained to Local Democracy Reporter Ewan Gawne why he’s started producing his own media to reach the public:
