Tributes to Swimming Coach Leonie Cooil

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to a local swimming teacher who has passed away.

Leonie Cooil from Foxdale died at the weekend following a cancer battle.

She was selected as Chef de Mission for Team Isle of Man at this year's Commonwealth Games in Australia's Gold Coast.

Ms Cooil was recently appointed as one of three anti-doping educators on the Island.

Manx athlete Erika Kelly on Twitter said: "Such sad news. Leonie was so resilient, and so inspiring. You helped make my Commonwealth Games debut one of the best experiences, and you’ll be sorely missed by so many".
