Ramsey bathing water cleanest on Island

Ramsey Commissioners have welcomed findings which show the town’s bathing water is some of the cleanest on the Island.

The town achieved some of the highest standards this year, measured from samples taken between May and September.

Water across the Island is tested for cleanliness against standards set by the 1976 European Commission Bathing Water Directive.

The results compiled and analysed by the Government Laboratory have been made available online.
Ramsey beach, including the Mooragh Park lake, was matched only by Derbyhaven across this period for cleanliness.

Commissioner Luke Parker, who also operates a water-sports business, says the findings have given the local authority a ‘big opportunity’ to develop facilities and promote the town’s beach.

He points to the recent installation of a new water treatment plant by Manx Utilties as part of the improvement.
